Xscape Milton Keynes – Expansion Plans
Updated 16th September 2009
Xscape, Milton Keynes was the first of the Xscape developments in the UK and
is now the flagship destination of the national brand, which includes two others;
one located in Castleford, Leeds and the other in Braehead, Glasgow. Xscape Milton
Keynes has set the benchmark for quality in mixed leisure and retail development
in the UK. Building on this success, Xscape plans to take ‘The Ultimate Destination’
to the next stage, with additional development aimed at a diverse and sophisticated
customer. Xscape’s plans will broaden both the leisure and retail provision,
and widen the destination’s appeal, as well as complement and enhance the existing
scheme to provide an improved offer to its loyal local catchment, and to attract
more visitors from further afield.
The proposed development plans, which will fill a gap in the market not currently
provided for elsewhere in Milton Keynes, have been formulated in response to the
‘Milton Keynes Development Framework Plan’.
The proposed development comprises:-

- Speciality Shopping
- Café/Restaurants
- Hotel
- Casino
- Public Realm
- Additional Car Parking
This new scheme will bring Ł30-40 million to Milton Keynes' economy, whilst providing
a safe place to dwell, shop and enjoy leisure time.
PY Gerbeau, Chief Executive of X-Leisure commented “These development proposals
will be a fantastic addition to both Xscape and Milton Keynes. We aim to build
upon our success over the last 9 years and create a platform for even more success
in the future. Milton Keynes is a great city with lots to offer and our plans
will reinforce Xscape’s status as the UK’s leading leisure and retail destination”.
Xscape and X-Leisure have been working with Central Milton Keynes Partnership
and other stakeholders in formulating plans for the further development and expansion
of Xscape. Having engaged in full public consultation and liaison with the council
and other relevant stakeholders, these plans were granted outline planning consent
by Milton Keynes Council on Monday 14th September 2009.
